Product Description
Most of the designs in this range tile the sphere with a repeating unit. This one does the opposite: a single eight-armed snowflake is planted dead centre, and everything else is background. That makes it the pendant that reads from furthest away — the shape is one clean symmetrical star, and it survives being seen at the length of a chain across a room, which is not true of the busier pieces.
Up close there is more than the outline. Every arm carries branching side twigs, like the dendrite pattern of a real crystal, with a small hub where they all meet, and the remaining surface is filled with smaller flakes so the metal never goes empty. The blackening here is even rather than patchy — the whole piece takes the same antique grey, with the high edges of the arms wiping back to bright silver. It is the finish that gives the twigs their definition: without a uniform dark in the background, that level of detail turns to mush at any distance.
Twenty millimetres inside, 0.78in, the fuller of the two standard chime sizes, with the ball sold separately. The blue ball in these shots is the winter pairing — cool blue behind dark silver — while a white ball makes it look like a snowball in a cage and a deep red turns it into something for December gifting. Copper with a silver plate, plated inside as well, opening on a hinge with a side clasp.
One merchandising note worth using. Our sample photography shows this pendant worn on a long chain — 45 inches, 114cm — falling just above the bump, which is why the maternity and keepsake angle works so naturally here: sell it with a long chain as a "new arrival" gift, or short as a winter piece, and you get two listings out of one photograph.
