Rows of rounded scales overlap across the sphere, each course offset against the one below it so no two seams meet — the same trick that lets real scales flex. The scales are raised rather than cut flat through the metal, so each casts a thin shadow onto the one beneath. From arm's length the surface reads as texture first and pattern second.

It holds 18mm inner balls.
