Product Description
This one is a closed ball rather than a pierced cage: every line on it is cut into the surface in relief, so the decoration reads as sculpture instead of silhouette. The upper half carries a lotus palmette with flanking leaves, cut with enough depth that the blades throw their own shadow under directional light, and a band of tiny raised beads runs just under the crown with a chevron motif above it.
The lower half repeats the same vocabulary, larger and set into a fan — layered chevrons building toward a pointed centre, with broad leaves spreading either side. Because nothing is pierced, the ball has weight in the hand and a mirror finish across the smooth ground between the motifs, which is what makes the engraved areas stand out at arm's length rather than only up close.
It opens on a long curved clasp at one side, released with a thumbnail, hinged on a round stud at the other, and splits into two halves along the middle band. The inside is left with a matte cast finish rather than polished — a plain cavity that holds an 18mm inner ball without it sliding around. It fits 18mm inner balls / 0.71in. Nickel-free and lead-free, with a top ring and bail that take a chain, a cord or a short beaded strand.
