The trick here is the direction of the light. The ball is pierced all over with heart-shaped openings — a band of large hearts running around the middle, with smaller hearts and pin-holes scattered through the rest — so with a coloured ball inside, the Ball shows through the metal as a field of blue hearts. Fit a silver ball and the hearts read as empty cut-outs; fit a bright one and the cage turns into a projector. That is the shot to lead with in advertising, because it is the one thing a customer cannot see in a flat white-background photo.
Hanging from the base is the second half of the idea: a fine multi-strand chain tassel, gathered into a cylindrical cap so it falls as one soft column rather than a spray of loose ends. It is what pushes this pendant past the other ball lockets in the range — the piece swings as the wearer moves, the chime rings against the metal walls, and the silhouette reads much longer on the neck than the width of the ball would suggest.
